How do you get started?

The fastest way to understand whether the Aritma API fits your setup is to see it in action in a real integration and ask questions directly. The live webinar below is a good first step.

See the Aritma API in action, live webinar, 9 September

On Wednesday 9 September at 13:00 CEST, Niklas Bertsen (VP Sales & Marketing) and Karl Henry Mikaelsen (Solution Architect) walk through how the Aritma API works in a live session on Microsoft Teams. It's built for potential clients: a practical look at what the API does, how integration works, and time for your questions.

What is the Aritma API?

The Aritma API is an Open Finance and payment automation interface for B2B software, ERP systems, and finance operations. It gives you programmatic access to two core capabilities: reading financial data from bank accounts and initiating payments, as well as the reconciliation logic that ties transactions back to invoices and the ledger.

It's built for teams that need bank connectivity without becoming bank-integration specialists: product teams embedding payments into their own software, and finance teams automating payables, receivables, and reconciliation inside tools like Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

What can you do with the Aritma API?

  • Retrieve account balances and transaction history across connected banks.
  • Initiate single and batch payments from your own application or ERP.
  • Match incoming and outgoing transactions to invoices automatically, cutting manual reconciliation work.
  • Pull standardised, structured financial data instead of parsing a different file format for every bank.

The point is one integration instead of many. If you operate across several Nordic markets, you typically maintain separate connections, formats, and logins for each bank. Aritma consolidates that behind a single API. Our next webinar here: https://webinar.aritma.com/api

How does the Aritma API work?

At a high level, the Aritma API follows the standard Open Finance model:

  1. Connect. Your application integrates with the Aritma API.
  2. Authorize. The account holder grants access through their bank's secure authentication (Strong Customer Authentication under PSD2).
  3. Access or pay. You pull account information, or submit a payment instruction, through the same interface.
  4. Reconcile. Matched transaction data flows back into your ledger or ERP, so the books stay current without manual entry.

Because the consent and authentication happen at the bank level, you get access on terms the account holder has approved, and Aritma handles the connectivity and standardization underneath.

What problems does it solve?

Manual bank connectivity is a hidden tax on finance operations. Multiple bank portals, inconsistent file formats, and manual matching lead to slow cash visibility, reconciliation backlogs, and payment errors.

The Aritma API removes that layer. You get one place to read balances, send payments, and reconcile, which means faster close, fewer errors, and cash positions you can actually trust in real time.

Who is the Aritma API for?

  • Software and product teams embedding payments or account data into their own platform.
  • Finance and accounting teams automating AP/AR and reconciliation, particularly inside Business Central.
  • Companies operating across Nordic markets that want one connection instead of one per bank.

FAQ

What is the Aritma API used for? Connecting software and finance systems to bank accounts to read financial data, initiate payments, and automate reconciliation across the Nordics through one integration.

Do I need to be a developer to use it? Developers integrate with the API, but the finance-side automation (payments, reconciliation) is used day-to-day by finance teams, often within their ERP.

Is there a way to test it before committing? Sandbox availability / how to trial, or point to a demo.]
